CALES Career Talk: Compass Affordable Housing
Join the College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences (CALES) Career Center for our weekly Career Talks. Each week, students connect with professionals whose work supports communities, social impact, and career pathways aligned with service-oriented and people-focused work. Complimentary lunch is provided to students who RSVP and attend in person.
This week’s Career Talk features Angelica Mendivil, Human Resource Coordinator at Compass Affordable Housing. Compass Affordable Housing is a mission-driven organization dedicated to creating safe, stable housing while supporting the long-term growth, healing, and success of individuals and families in our community.
Angelica will share how Compass Affordable Housing goes beyond housing to focus on human development and trauma-informed support. Their work is grounded in compassion, dignity, and empowerment, ensuring that programs and services are person-centered and responsive to real community needs. Students will gain insight into how values-based organizations operate and how human resources plays a critical role in building strong, supportive teams that advance mission-driven work.
During this session, students will learn about career pathways, internships, and volunteer opportunities within Compass Affordable Housing and the broader affordable housing and nonprofit sector. This Career Talk is ideal for students interested in human services, human resources, nonprofit work, community development, public service, housing, and social impact careers, as well as those seeking meaningful work where they can make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
